|BOSTON SOUTHWEST CORRIDOR RAIL TRANSIT PROGRAM
John Reilly led the General Engineering Consultant (GEC) for the Transit Authority (MBTA) and was successively Manager of Design Development, Manager of Design, Project Manager and Project Director for the $1 billion Southwest Corridor high-speed rail, transit and urban development project. 1979-1986.
John was responsible for GEC program management, design management and design coordination for all urban design, civil and structural facilities, systems engineering and special services including community information/outreach programs and the innovative student educational training program. Also included were agency coordination, agency manuals, design criteria and guidelines, land development, program control and construction management assistance to MBTA.
Design responsibility included contractual and technical management of all preliminary and final designs for Section 1 Line and Station facilities including underpinning, slurry walls, retaining walls, bridges, stations and parking facilities, all system-wide and systems designs including train control and communications, retrofit of new Automatic Train Control system to existing vehicles, traction power and electrification, elevators, escalators, signage, graphics, maintenance manuals.
